The Lancashire County Nursing Trust

The Lancashire County Nursing Trust (LCNT) was established in 1954 to offer financial assistance to retired District Nurses and to “sick and needy“ patients.  We are a registered Charity providing financial donations (including emergency grants) for the sick, needy and Community Nurses in the following areas;

  • Lancashire

  • Greater Manchester

  • Liverpool

  • Sefton

  • South Cumbria

For those in the areas above, we provide financial assistance to:

  • members of the general public who are deemed sick and needy

  • retired Community Nurses who have worked in the areas above

The Trust has regularly made grants of up to £500 to people who are ill, handicapped or disabled, and to those who may be in need of medical and/or household equipment to improve their quality of life.

MARY’S STORY *

Assistance to a sick and needy recipient

Mary is 76 and has arthritis in her spine and knees which has resulted in limited mobility. As a result of her limited mobility she has been unable to have a bath for the last 12 months and has to access the stairs on all fours. She had been assessed by an occupational therapist who recommended a stair lift and shower adaptation. The Local Authority were able to part fund the work but still left Mary with a shortfall and her income and savings could not fund the balance. Along with the Royal British Legion we provided a grant to allow the work to progress.

JENNY’S STORY *

Assistance to a District Nurse

Jenny is 34, married with a young family and had a first class honours degree in Bachelor of Nursing. She is receiving treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia which involves spending a large amount of time waiting for tests and for the result of treatments. Her mother told us that she likes reading and therefore to help Jenny pass the time we helped with finance to purchase a Kindle and with the cost of downloading books.
